In 2 weeks-ish we are going to Spain.
I want to keep a record of that whole adventure. I am inviting all my Camino group - The Flawless Llamas pt 2 - to join me in this.
So far we have done some practice hikes and purchased the gear we think we will need. We've gotten our tickets and booked our Albergues. We've looked at the Brierly guide and watched a lot of YouTube videos.
My feet are screwed up so I am in the midst of trying to fix them with steroids.
I want to do the Camino because I have been drawn to pilgrimages ever since I read about one in a national geographic in 5th grade.
I want to do it to pray in cathedrals and for history and for beauty and for doing something hard and for getting the Compostela.
Long ago this pilgrimage would grant you a plenary indulgence that would absolve you of all sorts of horrible sins (also crimes). You can still sort of get this.
From this trip I am the most looking forward to the cathedral in Burgos.
I am also really looking forward to spending some time walking and talking with my son.
I love being outside and I love travel and I love moving so hopefully it will all be right up my alley.
I am least looking forward to flying. I am a terrible unhappy flier.
